Back To Him

Updated: Oct 2, 2024

To Reliability, Security, & Restoration.

Psalm 19:7, "The law of the Lord is perfect (flawless), restoring and refreshing the soul; the statutes of the Lord are reliable and trustworthy, making wise the simple" (AMP).

These words.

These words which guide every decision to be made.

Every understanding there is to be understood.

These words which convict my heart and mind when I've gone astray and chose myself over Him.

Falsely trusting unreliable feelings, high-emotion-run-pain and an ever-changing self-focused culture.

The Word and Spirit which keep drawing me back to Him.

These words which remind me the Bible isn't about me or for my coffee-house devos — it's about Jesus, and His faithfulness.

These words are my only solid ground through everything.

These words which convict my heart to turn towards Christ each time because He is everything I will ever need.

And to repent for the way I painted Jesus in my own ideas for what He could do for me — rather than desiring to seek and love Him simply for who He is.

These words are why my heart fully believes Scripture is without any error, entirely unchangeable, still able to be used fully as it is to rebuke, teach, and find discernment in every area of life.

Why it's words will always hold water, when this earth doesn't — and culture removes sections of Scripture or takes Jesus out of context, to appease personal feelings or self-misplaced identities.

These words in Psalm 19 soothe my weary soul when He draws me back to Him yet again to know Him as my Father and grow deeper in relationship with Him.

No matter what happens, I undoubtedly believe I will be okay. Why? Jesus holds me in His embrace. I trust Him. I trust Him because He always has been, and will be, reliable. And the discernment He grants through time spent getting to know Him, I trust because it comes from the most reliable source to ever be.

These words, words which call to repentance of my misunderstanding of Him, comfort me. He is in control, and the only source of true security.

His Words are perfect.

He is able to be trusted.
